Air Fryer Honey Garlic Salmon

What you need

This air fryer honey garlic salmon cooks flaky fillets with a sticky sweet-savoury glaze in under 20 minutes. It is a high-protein weeknight fish dinner with crisp edges and almost no cleanup.

For the salmon:

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 150g / 5 oz each), skin on or off
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

For the honey garlic glaze:

  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 tsp cornflour / cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (optional, to thicken)
  • Sesame seeds and sliced spring onions to garnish

Recipe Steps

  1. Pat salmon dry. Rub with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Preheat air fryer to 200°C / 400°F for 3 minutes.
  2. Whisk honey, soy sauce, garlic, lemon juice, and sesame oil. Set aside half for serving.
  3. Place salmon in the basket (skin-side down if applicable). Air fry 6 minutes. Brush with half the glaze and cook 3–5 minutes more until the thickest part flakes and reaches 60°C / 145°F (or your preferred doneness).
  4. Optional: simmer remaining glaze with cornflour slurry 30–60 seconds until syrupy; spoon over salmon.
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds and spring onions. Serve with rice and steamed greens.

Tips & Variations

  • Do not overcrowd — cook in batches so hot air can crisp the edges.
  • Thicker fillets need 1–2 extra minutes; check early to avoid drying out.
  • Line the basket with a perforated parchment liner for easier cleanup.
