Brazilian Lemonade (The Creamy 5-Minute Viral Lime Drink)

What you need

This isn’t the lemonade you grew up with. Brazilian lemonade — limonada suíça — is a creamy, zesty lime drink made by blending whole limes with sweetened condensed milk and ice. The result tastes like a lime cream pie in a glass: bright and tart up front, silky-sweet at the finish, and dangerously refreshing. It’s the drink all over Brazilian tables (and viral food feeds), and it takes exactly 5 minutes and 5 ingredients. If you loved this drink, try our Ghost Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate next!
  • 4 fresh limes, washed and cut into wedges
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups ice cubes, plus extra for serving
  • Lime slices and mint leaves, to garnish (optional)

Recipe Steps

  1. Add the lime wedges and 4 cups cold water to a blender. Blend for 10-15 seconds only — just long enough to release the juice.
  2. Pour through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing the pulp with a spoon. Discard the pulp.
  3. Rinse the blender, return the strained lime juice to it, and add the condensed milk, sugar, and 2 cups ice. Blend for 30 seconds until thick, creamy, and pale green.
  4. Taste and adjust — more sugar for sweeter, or a squeeze of lime for extra tang.
  5. Pour over fresh ice immediately — Brazilian lemonade separates if it sits. Garnish with lime slices and mint.

Tips & Variations

  • Don’t over-blend the limes — 15 seconds max in step 1 is the whole secret. Over-blending releases bitter oils from the pith and white parts.
  • Serve right away — the drink separates and the flavor dulls after about 30 minutes. Blend, pour, drink.
  • No condensed milk? Use 1/4 cup honey or agave plus 1/4 cup coconut cream — the texture stays silky.
  • Strawberry twist — blend in 1 cup frozen strawberries with the ice for a pink limonada de morango.
  • Less sweet — drop the sugar to 1 tablespoon and let the condensed milk carry the sweetness.
