No oven, no stress, maximum spooky. These graveyard dirt cups layer silky chocolate pudding with crushed-cookie 'dirt,' cookie tombstones, and gummy worms for a 15-minute no-bake Halloween dessert kids go wild for. Chill 30 minutes before serving.

Ingredients

  • 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix

  • 2 cups cold whole milk

  • 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip), plus more for serving

  • 12 chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed

  • 6 rectangular butter cookies or graham wafers (tombstones)

  • 1 tube black decorating gel, for writing "RIP"

  • Gummy worms, for decorating

Directions

  • Make the pudding. Whisk the pudding mix and cold milk in a large bowl for 2 minutes, until thick. Gently fold in the whipped topping until smooth.
  • Make the dirt. Place the sandwich cookies in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin — leave some chunky pieces for realistic "dirt."
  • Fill the cups. Spoon the pudding evenly into 6 clear cups or small glasses. Sprinkle the crushed cookies generously over each cup.
  • Add the tombstones. Write "RIP" on each butter cookie with the black decorating gel. Push one tombstone into the center of each cup.
  • Chill and decorate. Refrigerate 30 minutes until set. Just before serving, add a dollop of whipped topping and a few gummy worms crawling out of the dirt. Serve!

Tips & Variations

  • Use clear cups — the pudding layers and cookie dirt look amazing through the glass.
  • Make ahead: Assemble up to 2 days early and keep chilled and covered; add the tombstones the day you serve so they stay crisp.
  • Gluten-free swap: Use gluten-free chocolate sandwich cookies and gluten-free graham wafers.
  • Pudding too soft? Pop the filled cups in the freezer for 10 minutes to firm up fast.
  • Party platter version: Build one big trifle bowl of graveyard dirt with a whole row of tombstones — a killer centerpiece.
