Why This Recipe Works
- One pan, three acts — sausage, shrimp and broccoli cook in sequence, each adding flavor to the next.
- The glaze clings — a pinch of cornstarch turns honey-soy into a glossy coating, not a puddle.
- Healthy swaps built in — chicken or turkey sausage keeps it lighter without losing the smoky bite.
- 25 minutes flat — shrimp cook in minutes; the broccoli stays bright and crisp.
Ingredients
Large shrimp, smoked sausage (chicken or turkey for the lighter version), broccoli, and a four-ingredient glaze of honey, soy sauce, vinegar and garlic. Red pepper flakes are optional but lovely.

How to Make Honey Garlic Shrimp & Sausage
- Sear the sausage until browned; set aside.
- Sear the shrimp 1 to 2 minutes per side; set aside.
- Sauté the broccoli and garlic in the same pan.
- Add the honey-soy glaze, thicken to glossy, and toss everything back through it.
Tips for the Best Shrimp Skillet
- Dry shrimp sear, wet shrimp steam — pat them thoroughly before the pan.
- Do not overcook the shrimp — they are done the moment they curl into a C and turn pink.
- Keep the broccoli crisp — it finishes cooking in the glaze without going soft.
- Serve over cauliflower rice for an even lighter, low-carb plate.
Storage
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in a skillet over low heat with a splash of water — just until warm, so the shrimp stay tender.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use frozen shrimp?
Yes — thaw overnight in the fridge or under cold running water, then pat very dry before searing.
What sausage works best?
Smoked chicken or turkey sausage keeps it healthy; andouille adds Cajun heat, and kielbasa is the classic choice.
Can I add other vegetables?
Bell peppers, snap peas, zucchini and green beans all fit. Add firmer vegetables with the broccoli.
Is it spicy?
Mild as written — the pepper flakes are optional. Add a teaspoon of sriracha to the glaze if you want real heat.
