Monster Mix (The Spooky 15-Minute No-Bake Halloween Snack Mix)

This Monster Mix is the Halloween party bowl that disappears before the candy does. Freshly popped corn, salty pretzel twists, candy corn, chocolate candy pieces and peanuts get a glossy orange white-chocolate drizzle, then a scatter of candy eyeballs and Halloween sprinkles while everything is still sticky. Sweet, salty, crunchy, spooky — it’s no-bake, it’s ready in 15 minutes, and it feeds a whole party from one giant bowl. Round out your haunted spread with Slime Popcorn, Halloween Candy Bark, Monster Halloween Cookies, Spiderweb Guacamole, and Mummy Meatballs for the ultimate Halloween party table.

What You Need

  • Popped popcorn, 10 cups (from 1/3 cup / 75 g kernels, popped)
  • Mini pretzel twists, 3 cups (90 g)
  • Candy corn, 1 1/2 cups (250 g)
  • Chocolate candy-coated pieces (M&M’s-style), 1 cup (200 g), orange + brown mix
  • Dry-roasted peanuts, 1 cup (150 g)
  • White chocolate chips, 1 cup (175 g), melted
  • Orange gel food coloring, 1/4 tsp (for the drizzle, optional)
  • Candy eyeballs, 1/3 cup (about 50)
  • Halloween sprinkles, 3 tbsp (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt, 1/2 tsp

How To Make It

  1. Pop and combine: Pop the kernels and pick out any unpopped ones. In the biggest bowl you own, toss the popcorn with the pretzels, candy corn, chocolate candy pieces, and peanuts.
  2. Melt the drizzle: Melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave in 20-second bursts (or over a double boiler) until smooth. Stir in the orange gel food coloring for a pumpkin-orange drizzle — or leave it white for a ghostly look.
  3. Drizzle and toss: Pour the melted chocolate over the mix in zigzags and toss gently with two spatulas until everything has glossy streaks. Sprinkle over the flaky sea salt while the chocolate is wet.
  4. Make it spooky: While the chocolate is still sticky, scatter over the candy eyeballs and Halloween sprinkles, pressing a few eyeballs in so they stare out of the bowl.
  5. Set and serve: Let it set 10 minutes, then break into chunks and pile into a big black or orange bowl. Serve immediately — or store airtight up to 3 days.

Tips & Variations

  • Nut-free party version: skip the peanuts and add an extra cup of pretzels — safe for school Halloween parties.
  • Salty-sweet balance: the flaky sea salt is not optional garnish — it makes the candy pop. Taste and add more.
  • Gift-bag portions: pack cooled mix into clear cellophane bags tied with orange ribbon — instant party favors.
  • Chocolate control: don’t fully melt the chocolate candies — the drizzle should coat the mix, not drown the colors.
  • Make-ahead: holds 3 days in an airtight container at room temperature; don’t refrigerate (the chocolate blooms).
