Frankenstein Guacamole (The Spooky 15-Minute Halloween Party Dip)

Prep: 15 min · Cook: 0 min · Total: 15 min · Makes: 8 servings

Frankenstein Guacamole

This Frankenstein guacamole is the Halloween party dip that gets photographed before it gets eaten. Chunky, zesty homemade guacamole shaped into the monster’s head — black olive eyes, a sour-cream stitched mouth, and tortilla-chip neck bolts. It’s no-cook, takes 15 minutes, and the bowl is always the first thing empty. It’s aliiiive… and delicious. Pair it with our Spiderweb Guacamole for a double-dip Halloween spread, or round out the table with Mummy Meat Pies, Mummy Meatballs, and the Spooky Halloween Charcuterie Board.

What You Need

  • Ripe avocados, 4 large (about 2 lb / 900 g)
  • Fresh lime juice, 2 tbsp (30 ml)
  • Red onion, 1/4 cup (40 g), finely diced
  • Roma tomatoes, 2, seeded and diced (about 3/4 cup / 110 g)
  • Fresh cilantro, 1/4 cup (10 g), chopped
  • Jalapeño, 1, seeded and minced
  • Garlic, 1 clove, minced
  • Fine sea salt, 1 tsp (6 g)
  • Black olive slices, 1/4 cup (35 g), for Frankenstein’s eyes
  • Sour cream, 2 tbsp (30 g), for the stitched mouth
  • Tortilla chips, 1 bag (13 oz / 370 g), for serving + 2 chips as neck bolts

How To Make It

  1. Mash: Halve and pit the avocados; scoop the flesh into a bowl. Add the lime juice and salt; mash chunky with a fork — never smooth.
  2. Mix: Fold in the red onion, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeño, and garlic. Taste and add more lime or salt until it sings.
  3. Shape the monster: Spread the guacamole in a thick oval on a serving platter — Frankenstein’s head. Smooth the top lightly with the back of a spoon.
  4. Build the face: Press 2 black olive slices on as the eyes. Spoon the sour cream into a zip-top bag, snip a tiny corner, and pipe a stitched zigzag mouth. Stick 2 tortilla chips into the sides as neck bolts.
  5. Serve: Surround the monster with the chip bag and serve within 2 hours. Press plastic wrap directly on any leftovers to stop browning.

Tips & Variations

  • Pick ripe avocados: they yield to gentle pressure but don’t feel mushy; rock-hard ones won’t mash.
  • Lime is non-negotiable: 2 full tablespoons keep the guac bright green for hours.
  • Chunky wins: mash with a fork, never a food processor — texture is what makes it guacamole.
  • Extra monster green: a single drop of green food coloring mixed in turns it full Frankenstein (optional, kid-approved).
  • Make-ahead: make the guacamole up to 24 hours ahead; press plastic wrap directly on the surface and decorate just before serving.
  • Estimated nutrition per serving: ~150 cal | protein 2 g | carbs 8 g | fat 13 g.
