Why This Recipe Works
- Fries IN the bowl — crispy potatoes play the bun’s role, only better.
- The sauce makes it — mayo, ketchup, mustard and pickle juice: the classic burger-joint formula.
- Hot meets cold — warm beef and fries over crisp lettuce and pickles is the perfect contrast.
- Everyone builds their own — set out toppings and let the table customize.
Ingredients
Ground beef, russet potatoes for the fries, romaine, dill pickles, cheddar and red onion — plus a five-ingredient sauce you will want on everything.

How to Make Burger Bowls
- Roast the seasoned fries until crisp, 25 to 30 minutes.
- Brown the beef with onion powder and Worcestershire.
- Whisk the burger sauce.
- Layer lettuce, fries, beef and toppings; drizzle and serve.
Tips for the Best Burger Bowls
- Soak cut fries in cold water for 20 minutes for maximum crispness; dry well before roasting.
- Shred the lettuce thick so it stays crunchy under the warm beef.
- Melt the cheddar onto the hot beef for 30 seconds before adding cold toppings.
- Sauce goes on last — and always make extra.
Storage
Store the components separately in the fridge for up to 3 days (the sauce keeps a week). Reheat the fries in a 400°F (200°C) oven or air fryer and the beef in a skillet, then assemble fresh.

Can I use sweet potato fries?
Yes — that is exactly what our Sweet Potato Burger Bowl does, and it is delicious.
What protein swaps work?
Ground turkey, chicken or a plant-based crumble all work with the same seasoning.
Can I make it low-carb?
Skip the fries and double the lettuce, or swap the fries for roasted cauliflower.
Is the sauce like Big Mac sauce?
Very close — the same creamy, tangy family. Adjust the pickle juice to taste.
