Air Fryer Mummy Jalapeño Poppers (The Crispy 15-Minute Halloween Party Appetizer)
Prep: 8 min · Cook: 7 min · Total: 15 min · Makes: 12 poppers

Meet the Halloween appetizer that never survives the party: air fryer mummy jalapeño poppers — crispy golden bites wrapped in flaky “mummy” pastry strips, stuffed with a creamy cheddar-bacon filling, and finished with spooky candy eyeballs. They’re spicy, creamy, crunchy, and ridiculously cute — and because the air fryer does the work, you go from fridge to party platter in 15 minutes flat. No deep fryer, no splatter, no oven preheat marathon.

What You Need
- 6 large jalapeño peppers, halved lengthwise and seeded (12 halves)
- 4 oz (115 g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup (50 g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup (60 g) cooked bacon, finely crumbled (skip for vegetarian)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1 can (8 oz / 227 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 24 candy eyeballs (or 12 thin black-olive slices)
- Cooking spray

How To Make It
- Make the filling: in a medium bowl, stir the softened cream cheese, cheddar, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, smoked paprika and salt until smooth and evenly combined.
- Fill the peppers: spoon about 1 tablespoon of filling into each jalapeño half, mounding it slightly — don’t overfill or it will ooze in the air fryer.
- Wrap the mummies: unroll the crescent dough and cut it into 1/4-inch (6 mm) strips. Wrap 2–3 strips around each popper in a crisscross “mummy bandage” pattern, stretching gently and leaving a small gap near the top for the eyes. Press the ends underneath to seal.
- Air fry: preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes. Arrange the poppers in a single layer (work in 2 batches if needed), mist lightly with cooking spray, and air fry for 7–8 minutes until the pastry is deep golden and the filling is bubbly.
- Add the eyes: let the poppers cool 2 minutes so the filling firms up, then press 2 candy eyeballs into the gap on each mummy.
- Serve warm with ranch, sriracha mayo, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips & Variations
- Wear gloves when halving jalapeños — capsaicin under your nails is no joke, and the mummy wrap means touching lots of peppers.
- Milder mummies: scrape out every last seed and white membrane; swap in mini sweet peppers for a kid-friendly, zero-heat version.
- Crispier wrap: don’t overlap the pastry strips too much — thin, spaced wraps turn the crispiest in the air fryer.
- Make-ahead: fill and wrap the poppers up to 8 hours ahead, refrigerate uncovered, then air fry straight from the fridge (add 1–2 minutes).
- No air fryer? Bake at 400°F (200°C) on a lined sheet for 12–14 minutes until golden.
- Dairy-free swap: use dairy-free cream cheese and cheddar-style shreds; the pastry is usually dairy-free but check the label.
