Spiderweb Brownies (The Fudgy 40-Minute Halloween Brownies)

These spiderweb brownies are the fudgy, crackly-topped chocolate brownies you already love — dressed up for Halloween with a glossy white-chocolate spiderweb piped right on top and a few candy eyeballs for maximum spook factor. One bowl, 15 minutes of prep, 25 minutes in the oven, and you have 12 bakery-style brownies that look like they took all afternoon. The web takes two minutes with a zip-top bag, and no piping skills required — wonky webs look MORE haunted. Serve them with a mug of Ghost Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate, stack them next to Monster Halloween Cookies and Spooky Halloween Sugar Cookies on the party tray, or box them up as take-home treats from your monster mash.
What You Need
- 3/4 cup (170 g) unsalted butter
- 8 oz (227 g) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups (300 g) granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (25 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
- 1/2 cup (85 g) white chocolate chips (for the spiderweb) + 24 candy eyeballs

How To Make It
- Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) pan with parchment, leaving overhang for easy lifting.
- Melt the butter and chopped semi-sweet chocolate together in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second bursts, stirring until glossy and smooth.
- Whisk in the sugar, then the eggs one at a time, then the vanilla — whisk a full minute for that crackly top.
- Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt just until no streaks remain. Spread into the pan and bake 22-25 minutes, until the edges are set and the center barely jiggles.
- Cool completely in the pan (about 45 minutes) — cutting warm brownies breaks the web look.
- Melt the white chocolate chips in a zip-top bag (30-second bursts, knead smooth), snip a tiny corner, and pipe concentric circles on each brownie. Drag a toothpick from center to edge through the circles to pull the web shape. Press in candy eyeballs while the web is wet.

Tips & Variations
- Don’t overbake — pull them when the center still has a slight jiggle; they set as they cool and stay fudgy.
- Cut with a warm, dry knife for clean squares before piping the webs.
- Swap the candy eyeballs for plastic spider rings pressed into each brownie (remove before eating) for a party-table wow.
- Espresso powder (1 teaspoon) deepens the chocolate flavor without making them taste like coffee.
- Make ahead: bake the day before, wrap tightly, and pipe the webs the day of the party.
